Dr. Attahiru Mohammed Maccido
Lead Consultant and Trainer on Non-Interest Finance
Dr. Maccido was the Pioneer MD/CEO of Ghanaian SEC-Licensed Non-Interest Finance Issuing House, Trustmark Capital Limited- Ghana. He is the immediate Past MD/CEO of Asset/Portfolio Management Firm, One17 Capital Ltd - Nigeria. He managed the leadership on the Company for 5 years where he put the name of the Company in the historical sand of Non-Interest Finance industry in Nigeria. He is currently the Chairman, Board of Directors of One17 Ethical Advisory Services Ltd and a Non-Executive Director of One17 Financial Services Ltd, (a SEC-Licensed Issuing House).
He is a Lead Consultant and Trainer on Non-Interest Finance with specialties in Non-Interest Capital Market and Member, BoT of International Centre for Islamic Culture and Education (ICICE) Abuja and a Director of Metropolitan Skills Ltd. He is a Non-Executive Director of Buraq Capital Ltd, an Issuing House firm that is involve in advising the Federal Government of Nigeria on Sovereign Sukuk issuances from 2017 to date. He is a Director at IFRIG Ghana and he was the pioneer Chief Executive Officer of Lotus Financial Services Ltd, a Subsidiary of Lotus Capital Limited. Attahiru was also Head of the Northern Region of Lotus Capital Ltd. While with Lotus Capital, Attahiru left his footprints not only in the Company but to the Islamic Finance Industry in Nigeria as:
✓ He was instrumental in structuring the first Nigerian private Sukuk Al-Istisna issued by Lotus Capital in 2010.
✓ He also constructed and managed first Lotus Islamic Equity Index from 2009 to 2012. The index metamorphosed as “NGX Lotus Capital Islamic Index – NGX LC II” when the Nigerian Stock Exchange partnered with Lotus Capital to manage the Index.
✓ Attahiru had also structured an Ijarah Sukuk for Osun State Government, the first public Sukuk issued in Nigeria which received Africa Deal of the Year Award at the Islamic Finance News (IFN) Awards, 2013 in Dubai.
He also worked with the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) from 2002 to 2006. Mr. Maccido was a member of Technical Committee constituted by Steering Committee on Alternative Finance made up of the CBN, SEC, DMO, ICRC and Federal Ministry of Justice. He was also a member of 10-Year Master Plan on Alternative Products of SEC Nigeria. He acted as a Technical Adviser on Sukuk Listing to FMDQ OTC (Exchange) Plc, one of the Stock Exchanges in Nigeria. He is also a Member, Global Advisory Board of MIT Global, UAE and First Global Academy, Sri Lanka. He was a Shari’ah Adviser to Nigerian SEC-registered FBN Quest Halal Fund (now First Halal Fund) and United Capital Sukuk Fund.
