Dr. James Orleans-Lindsay is a celebrated Ghanaian businessman, entrepreneur, real estate mogul, and philanthropist. His successful track record spans multiple industries in construction, commerce, agriculture, agribusiness, and aquaculture. He sits as the Executive Chairman of JL Holdings, Ltd., a diversified conglomerate with many subsidiaries. Among the most notable ones is JL Properties Ltd. JL Properties is credited to crowning Dr. Lindsay's unparalleled achievements that awarded him the Order of the Volta, the highest national award. Dr. Lindsay achieved this distinguished recognition by transforming the abandoned dumpsite and quarry in Achimota, which had become a haven of societal deviance, to one of the cleanest and green-certified addresses in Ghana's real estate landscape, providing homeowners a rare lifestyle experience.
Dr. Orleans-Lindsay has an impressive educational background. He attended St. Peter's Senior Secondary School in Nkwatia and St. Augustine’s College, where he obtained his “O” and “A” Level Certificates in Science, respectively. He pursued BSc in Biochemistry at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and had post-graduate studies in real estate and construction management, a desire fired by his unrelenting pursuit of excellence and his undying commitment to education and professional development. He obtained a Certificate in Real Estate Finance from the London School of Economics and yet another Certificate in Real Estate Management: Finance. Design. Leadership from Harvard Business School. Dr. Lindsay earned a Master of Science in Construction Management from the University of Salford and his PhD. in Construction Management from the University of Hertfordshire. Additionally, he studied Real Estate Development at Saïd Business School, Oxford University.
Dr. Orleans-Lindsay’s entrepreneurial journey began with humble roots, influenced by his exemplary grandfather. After completing his education, he worked in the United Kingdom as a Works Supervisor at IBM and later as a Line Manager at High-Speed Production. In 2005, he founded JL Properties, Ltd., which he has meticulously groomed to become an industry leader in Ghana’s real estate space. At the pinnacle of his extraordinary business successes.
Dr. Orleans-Lindsay is sharing his expertise and insights at various prestigious national and international fora. Notably, he was a speaker at the Africa Rising Symposium in London, the Netherlands Ghana Business Forum, the Africa Real Estate Conference 2021, and has spoken at several university convocations. His public speaking engagements also include appearances at GIMPA Business School, Ashesi University, and TEDx UHAS .
Dr. Orleans-Lindsay’s contributions to business, entrepreneurship, and real estate have earned him numerous awards and honours, including Member, EMY Africa Ultimate Man of the Year, CEO of the Year (Real Estate) at the 8th Ghana CEO Summit, Man of the Year Business at EMY Africa, and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Ghana Property Awards 2021. His works are prominent in esteemed international academic journals and publications such as Forbes Africa and the Oxford Business Group's 2023 Ghana Report.
Dr. Orleans-Lindsay currently sits as Chancellor of the Cape Coast Technical University, where his acumen is reshaping the fortunes of the university. He is the President of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA). He is the reigning CIMG Marketing man of the year. Beyond his sterling business exploits, Dr. Orleans-Lindsay is committed to giving back to society. He serves as the life patron of the Cape Coast Youth Development Association, life patron of Scout Ghana Federation (SGF Ghana), the Board Chairman of JL Foundation, which focuses on charitable initiatives across various sectors, including education, healthcare, and community development. He is actively involved in several other significant organizations: the Board Chairman of Teksol Eganow, Ltd., Orlin Construction Company, Ltd., and JL Plantation.
